The right course for you

If you want to learn how to do a job, gain the skills an employer needs, have the chance to get qualifications which are nationally recognised by employers and get paid, then Work Based Learning (WBL) is for you.

You can get training for lots of different types of jobs and some of the programmes give you a job from the very first day.

To help you choose first ask yourself:- ‘What do I enjoy doing the most?’, ‘What am I good at?’ and ‘What grades am I aiming to achieve at school?’.

From here you can decide which type of job you would like to do and what this type of work involves, establish if you are suited to it, then you choose the course to match the job.

You will need to talk about all of this with a parent or guardian, careers teacher, Connexions Advisor or a training provider to ensure you get the most suitable programme available.
